Together, our associates and customers inspired us, helping to raise more than $6.5 million through the MLK Day of Giving. Thank you for your generosity in making the day so successful.
Martin Luther King, Jr. believed that greatness comes through service. In honor of his servant leadership, the third Monday in January has become recognized as the MLK Day of Service and is intended to be more of day “on” than a day “off.” The MLK Day of Service encourages everyone to meet the needs of others in their communities. To help people meet the needs of others, Walmart, will host an online Day of Giving matching campaign for U.S. Walmart, Sam’s Club and brand associates as well as our customers and the general public on January 18th from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. EST. Subject to individual limitations, Walmart will match up to $2 million for associates and $2 million for customers, for a total of up to $4 million contributed to the Walmart Spark Fund for Charities at CAF America.
NOTE: As with all donations, participation by Walmart associates in the MLK Day of Giving campaign is strictly voluntary. Associates are not required to participate, and the decision to participate or not has no impact on the terms or conditions of your employment.
